Before you plan / admission

Check your status.
Both deadlines have passed.

Admission status checked 26 October 2026 against the organiser’s overseas professional visitor FAQ.

Who this registration route is for

Industry professionals from organisations outside the Chinese mainland—including businesses, government bodies, public institutions and social organisations—in sectors covered by the CIIE exhibition areas.

Check your professional role and affiliation against this definition. A foreign passport alone does not establish eligibility.

Registration alone does not grant admission

  1. Registration for this visitor route closed at 24:00 on 20 October 2026.
  2. If you submitted an application, sign in to check your review, payment and badge status. The published payment deadline was 24:00 on 23 October 2026.
  3. After your badge is issued, follow its permitted dates and entry instructions.

Regular on-site registration is not available. A submitted application or payment does not confirm admission until the organiser issues your badge.

Both deadlines used Beijing time (UTC+8). Registration and payment are now closed; submitted applicants should use the official sign-in route to check the current status.

Registration deadline
End of 20 October; 00:00 on 21 October.
Payment deadline
End of 23 October; 00:00 on 24 October.

Expo: 5–10 November 2026.
Overseas professional visitor dates: 6–10 November, subject to the validity of your issued badge.

What to check first

Book around
your working day.

Start with the first place you need to be and the last place you’ll leave. Two common schedules point to different starting areas.

Schedule A / several expo days

Early starts
at the venue.

Compare the NECC area and Hongqiao first. A shorter morning journey may matter more than being near an evening attraction.

  • Check the actual route to your required entrance.
  • Ask whether the hotel is on a confirmed 2026 bus route.
  • Include your evening return in the decision.

Schedule B / one expo day

Most meetings
are downtown.

Compare a central Shanghai base with the full expo commute. Choose around your meeting locations, rather than a general “best area”.

  • Map each meeting from the exact hotel address.
  • Allow for metro transfers and the final walk.
  • Keep a simpler evening before your expo day.

A directory is a starting point.

The official hotel list includes addresses and property details. Confirm your dates, room availability, price and cancellation terms with the hotel. Straight-line distance is not a walking or commuting time.

Check the shuttle.
Keep a metro plan.

Match any expo service to your terminal or hotel and arrival time. A bus announcement alone does not establish the stop, fare or your eligibility.

Before relying on a 2026 expo bus

A usable 2026 timetable, pickup map and complete passenger rules for general attendees have not yet been verified for this guide. Check the latest official notice or ask your hotel, and make sure the details apply to the 2026 event.

Shanghai’s announcement describes a QR code on the leaflet leading to the CIIE offers section in 爱购上海 (Aigou Shanghai).

  1. 1

    Use the official leaflet

If one comes with your credentials, use its QR code. This guide does not provide a substitute QR code or coupon link.

  2. 2

    Read the individual offer

Check the current merchant, valid dates, eligible badge or customer types, minimum spend and claim or redemption method.

  3. 3

    Keep your own plans first

An offer only helps if it fits your day. Confirm the terms before buying, and leave time for your return journey.

The live 2026 offers section and its full terms have not yet been verified for this guide. The announcement does not establish that every badge or every purchase qualifies. Read the official announcement 中文 (opens a new tab)

A little preparation helps

Save the essentials
before you fly.

Save your hotel’s name, Chinese address, phone number and booking confirmation. Keep a copy you can read without mobile data.

Shanghai has also announced airport service centres for communications and currency exchange, and foreign-visitor services at fixed venue restaurants. Confirm hours, card acceptance and individual services on arrival.

One evening.
One part of Shanghai.

If your day leaves enough room, keep it simple: dinner around East Nanjing Road, then one stop at the Bund. Count the trip back before setting out.

Start

Leave NECC

Check the journey to East Nanjing Road and back to your hotel.

Eat

East Nanjing Road area

Choose dinner around your arrival time, energy and dietary needs.

Optional

The Bund, then hotel

Add the waterfront only if the weather, energy and return time work.

The shorter version is a good plan too.

If you finish late, it rains, or tomorrow starts early, choose dinner near your hotel. No extra cross-city stop required.

Beyond the expo.
Explore Shanghai.

Choose one plan around your free time and hotel location. These are self-guided suggestions; no tour purchase is needed to use this guide.

Allow 3–4 hours for the evening option or 5–6 hours for the half-day option, including travel. These are editorial planning allowances, not measured journey times. Check the route to your own hotel before setting out.

An evening / historic lanes and dinner

Zhangyuan &
West Nanjing Road

Walk among Shanghai’s shikumen buildings, then eat in the same neighbourhood. Keep this as one evening plan; the Bund can wait for another day.

张园 · 茂名北路200–290弄

Getting there & back
From NECC, follow signs to Metro Line 2 and travel east to West Nanjing Road (南京西路). Walk to North Maoming Road (茂名北路). For a Hongqiao or NECC base, take Line 2 west on your return; check your hotel’s actual stop.
Opening & reservations
The city’s heritage guide lists the public area as open all day, with business hours of 10:00–22:00, and no reservation required. Individual shops, restaurants and special exhibitions may have different hours or booking rules.
Your visit
Keep 1–2 hours for a short walk and dinner within the overall evening allowance. Choose food around your dietary needs and check the menu price before ordering. No shopping stop is required.
If you finish late
Eat near your hotel instead. Check the day’s last train for your station and direction before dinner; this guide does not promise a late return service.

A half-day off / canals and an old town

Zhujiajiao
water town

Choose a free morning or afternoon, rather than a late expo finish. Walk by the canals, see Fangsheng Bridge and North Street, and add one garden only if time permits.

朱家角古镇 · 放生桥 · 北大街

Getting there & back
From NECC’s Line 17 station, take the westbound service to Zhujiajiao (朱家角). From Exit 1, the operator’s walking directions via Zhuxi Road, Xiangningbang Road and Xinfeng Road total about 1.3 km to the old town. Return on Line 17 towards Hongqiao Railway Station, checking any onward hotel connection.
Opening
The operator describes the old town as open throughout the day. Paid sights and boats operate 08:30–17:00, subject to special notices. Plan paid visits well before 17:00; a separate last-admission time has not been confirmed here.
Tickets & booking
The old town itself has no entrance fee. Paid sights are separate: the operator currently lists Kezhi Garden at CNY 20, or a CNY 60 joint ticket for Kezhi Garden, Hexin Garden and Shanghai Helong Art Gallery. It lists on-site ticket sales at the visitor centre, service stations and paid sights, as well as advance-booking channels.
A simpler visit
Keep 2–3 hours for the town within the overall half-day allowance. Online passport and foreign-phone booking have not been tested; use a staffed official sales point if needed and confirm availability and accepted payment. Boats are optional, separately charged and subject to operating conditions.
Keep your return simple.

Check the day’s metro service and venue exit signs, save your hotel’s Chinese address, and shorten the walk in rain or if you are tired. Station walks, queues and temporary controls can add time. No fixed November timetable or boat availability is promised.

Local-visit information checked 19 October 2026. Published ordinary access and opening guidance is linked above; recheck for your visit date. These routes have not been personally timed or tested.
